Love Nest
One day, while hiking with my family, I came upon a Baltimore Oriole nest lying on the ground. They are usually suspended from a tree by a horse hair and a twig. They are very intricately woven and quite delicate. The nest was the inspiration for the Love Nest.Abaca pulp, covered in layers of chalk pastels and acrylic paint. Base is woven from cane and raffia. Chocolate vine from my garden is incorporated into the piece. Poems are wrapped in paper, tied with raffia, and placed inside the nest. Poems in the Love Nest by the following poets, W.B Yeats, Phillip Booth, Patrick Kavanagh, Pablo Neruda, John O’Donohue and Eavan Boland 7 inches high x 6 inches long x 4 inches deep
